✨Huli Huli Chicken✨
Served with a kale, mango, macadamia nuts, and honey mustard vinaigrette. With a side of macaroni salad.
Huli huli chicken is a sweet and savory dish that is served with white rice and macaroni salad. It’s something that I discovered while on Kauai. I really enjoyed the flavor of this dish and wanted to take a piece of the island back home with me.
Huli huli chicken is cooked using chicken thighs and cooked on a bbq grill for a smoky flavor. I don’t own a grill, so I changed up the technique to make it my own.
2 lbs chicken breast (3 pieces)
4 garlic cloves minced
1 cuillère à soupe de gingembre râpé
1 tbsp sesame oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp honey
1-2 tbsp sriracha
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tsp rice vinegar
Tenderize the chicken
Combine all the ingredients and marinade the chicken overnight
Heat oven to 425*F and bake chicken for 20 min.
Heat a pan to medium. Add some grape seed oil and add in the remaining marinade.
Bring to a simmer and add in the chicken breast. Continue cooking the chicken in the sauce until the sauce starts to thicken.
It should take 10 min for the chicken to fully cook and the sauce to coat the chicken.
